2013 BFA Reunion in Little Rock, Arkansas, USA

All variations of the Blencowe /Blincoe spellings of our name are invited to get in touch with members of your families scattered throughout the world and urge them to make plans to attend the 2013 Blencowe Families Association reunion in Little Rock, Arkansas, USA, on October 24 to 26, 2013

Program:

Thursday, October 24 from 5:00 to 9:00 pm. Welcome reception (heavy hors d’oeuvres and beverages) at the Courtyard by Marriott in the River Market District.

Friday 25th Continental breakfast and BFA meeting at Christ Episcopal Church followed by lunch then free time for sightseeing or relaxing.

5:00 we will meet at the Clinton Presidential Center for a tour and a family banquet in Cafe 42, the restaurant in the center.

The registration fee to cover the cost of the reception, continental breakfast, Thursday lunch, Clinton Center tour, and the BFA banquet is $125.

Extra Saturday Tour

For the morning of Saturday, October 26, we have planned an optional tour of Little Rock on a motorized trolley with lunch at the Villa Marre. The cost for the trolley tour with lunch will be $45.

Lodging

A block of rooms has been reserved at the Courtyard by Marriott on Clinton Avenue in the River Market +1 - 501 - 975-9800. You can reserve a room for a special price per night when you say you are with the Blencowe reunion. These rooms need to be booked by September 24. You can cancel your reservation as late as 6:00 p.m. on October 24 without a charge. The hotel is conveniently located near restaurants, the Clinton Presidential Center, Heifer International (a unique worldwide hunger relief charity), shops and museums.

Extended Trip Ideas

If you are thinking about making your trip to Arkansas an extended one, here are some things you might consider. Little Rock is a short drive from;

• The Ouachita and Ozark mountains, which will be in full color in October.


• Crystal Bridges, a new world-class museum of American art has recently opened in Bentonville in the northwest part of the state. The museum is free and offers iconic art such as a Stewart painting of George Washington and works by others such as Mary Cassatt, Winslow Homer, Andrew Wyeth, Thomas Hart Benton, John Singer Sargent, and Alexander Calder. It is a rare opportunity to see such art outside of the large metropolitan urban centers of the country.


• You might also look into visiting the resort city of Hot Springs or the Victorian mountain resort of Eureka Springs.


• The Toltec Indian Mound site in Scott, near Little Rock, and Blanchard Caverns are popular tourist attractions.


• The Crater of Diamonds State Park is the only location in the country where diamonds occur naturally, and it is open for public searching.
