Letter from the Editor

Dear Cousins,

In this newsletter we certainly have a wide range of Blencowe spellings!

I have no more to add on our Olympic hopefuls except that United States-based distance runner, Adrian Blincoe, may have sealed his spot at the London Olympics. He had a creditable 5000m performance recently in California that should go close to seeing the Kiwi officially added to the New Zealand track and field team. It would be his second Olympics, after he competed in Beijing in 2008. No doubt his proud grandparents, Bert and Mary Blincoe of Auckland, New Zealand will keep us informed.

I believe the Olympic Flame has begun its trip around the UK. If you have been chosen to carry it, we'd love to hear from you. I remember when prior to the Sydney Olympics in 2000 the flame was carried past our house. We were living in a small inland village of Finley at the time. It was a thrill to watch it pass by in that remote location.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to this issue, especially those who were called on at the last minute to help out. I want to stock pile articles and would especially like to have contributions from readers in the USA, Europe, Canada and New Zealand. Perhaps you could tell us why your branch moved to your part of the world.
